Fast forward to now, Joel works for the San Joaquin Council of Governments as an associate regional planner. He coordinates with local jurisdictions to plan, fund, and delivery projects in the region.
Upon graduating CSU Stanislaus in 2012, Joel joined the California Army National Guard. In 2017, Joel was mobilized for a year-long deployment as a Chinook door gunner in Kuwait and Iraq. Joel still serves in the National Guard, but believes he is called to do more for Stanislaus County.
After graduating Thomas Downey High School, Joel attended Modesto Junior College, CSU Stanislaus, and finally graduated with a Master’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning from San Jose State
While serving in the National Guard, Joel met the love of his life, his wife Jazmine. Joel and Jazmine have 2 daughters, aged six and one.
